About Us

F4F is a Hybrid Social Enterprise working to protect and increase India’s biodiverse forest cover in close collaboration with rural communities. Founded in December 2019, F4F is one of the few organizations in India working in the forestry sector and using a payment-for-ecosystem services model for its environmental protection and restoration activities.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Research Assistant to assist across multiple projects, including forest restoration, trees outside forests, wildlife conservation, rewilding, and related initiatives.

This role will support the research team in conducting literature reviews, organizing and managing research data, and synthesizing information relevant to project objectives. The Research Assistant will work closely with the project team to ensure accurate data management, timely research inputs, and effective knowledge support for ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research & Project Support
Provide research support across ongoing ecological, social, and community-based projects
Assist in implementing research methodologies, protocols, and data collection plans
Support compilation and organization of project-level data and outputs, and conduct scientific literature reviews
2. Record-Keeping & Documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project activities
Organize project documents, datasets, and reports in a structured manner
Support documentation of methodologies, SOPs, and project learnings
3. Data Management & Quality Control
Support data entry, cleaning, and formatting (primarily Excel / Google Sheets)
Conduct first-level quality checks on incoming data from field teams
Flag inconsistencies, missing data, or deviations from agreed protocols
Assist with basic data summaries and analysis, as required

Requirements

Important Note:
The Research Assistant may be required to travel to project sites as needed, depending on the requirements of the work.

Essential Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology, Agricultural Sciences, or a related discipline
1–2 years of experience in research support, project coordination, or data management (fresh graduates with strong skills may also be considered)

Desirable Qualifications:

Familiarity with academic databases and citation management tools (e.g., Mendeley, EndNote), GIS, and QGIS is desirable
Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; familiarity with digital data collection tools
Ability to manage multiple projects and work with diverse teams
