About Us

F4F is a Hybrid Social Enterprise working to protect and increase India’s biodiverse forest cover in close collaboration with rural communities. Job Description

The Junior Research Fellow will assist in field-based biodiversity monitoring and ecological data collection using quadrat sampling and line transect methods across project sites in Gadchiroli. The position involves systematic fieldwork, data entry, analysis support, and reporting under the guidance of the project’s ecological research team.

Roles & Responsibilities

Field Data Collection:

  • Conduct quadrat sampling for vegetation diversity.

  • Record habitat parameters: canopy cover, ground cover, disturbance signs.

  • Map all sampling sites using GPS.

Data Management & Analysis:

  • Record species and cover data in standard field formats.

  • Support data entry, compilation, and baseline analysis.

  • Maintain photo records and field maps.

Community & Institutional Coordination:

  • Liaise with forest department staff, community members, and field teams.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare field notes and data summaries and reports.


Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Forestry, Botany, Zoology, or related field.

  • Strong interest in field ecology or biodiversity surveys.

  • Knowledge of quadrat and line transect sampling methods.

  • Familiarity with species identification (flora and/or fauna) in Central Indian landscapes.

  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and GPS-based data recording.
