Summary
The Ops Manager (India / Asia) will primarily be responsible for managing India operations. This includes coordinating field logistics and managing field teams, cultivating stakeholder relationships, developing a deep understanding of the India landscape, and generating / executing any new opportunities in India. They will also support the cleaning and analysis of data, ensuring a high quality of data collected and robust insights. Over time, the role may extend to include other opportunities in Asia. This position will be based in India, particularly, it will be a bonus to be based in the coffee-growing regions (e.g., Kanartaka).
The Role
Specifically, the role will include, but is not limited to, the following main responsibilities and tasks:
- Operations Management: Lead the day-to-day, end-to-end, field operations in India. This includes creating budgets and contracts, coordinating field logistics and managing field teams, cultivating stakeholder relationships, developing a deep understanding of the landscape, and generating / executing any new opportunities in India. They should proactively identify risks and opportunities, develop and discuss country strategy with regional leads, and problem-solve dynamic issues with field teams. They should engage stakeholders effectively, and be able to cultivate / build relationships independently.
- Data Analysis and Insights: Together with the Data and Insights team, they will oversee field team training and data quality processes, ensuring a high quality of data collected during field work. They will support the process of insights generation, and conduct data analysis projects to improve Enveritas’ understanding of coffee industry dynamics in India. This could include generating reports for stakeholders and clients, and/or conducting research related to coffee (and other crops as needed).
- Team Support: They will conduct training of field teams, lead sessions on data quality, and coordinate the work of field teams. This may include travel around 10-20% of the year, as needed. They will support Asia’s Operations and Data & Insights teams on special projects, and ad hoc requests, as needed.
- System Development: They may design and improve more efficient / better training methods and materials, data quality processes and/or tools, and survey questionnaires, where relevant.

Qualifications
- 4-6 years’ relevant work experience in operations and field / project management, with exposure to data analysis & research, the coffee sector, sustainable agriculture, or other comparable fields.
- Independent problem-solver with sound judgment and flexible attitude, able to handle dynamic issues on the ground, while maintaining a sense of strategic perspective.
- Excellent communication skills and a high level of accountability. Strong work ethic and professionalism, particularly when doing independent and remote work.
- High level of rigor and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in managing multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Strong analytical competencies, with experience working with datasets and deriving relevant insights with the use of data exploration or analysis techniques.
- Clear track record of working in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment.
- A driving desire to alleviate poverty and make the world a better place.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications and familiarity with quantitative data collection software/platforms. Proficiency in programming languages and geographical information systems (GIS) is beneficial, but not required.
- Bachelor's degree and excellent academic record, related to development studies, economics, business, statistics, plant science, forestry, or other relevant discipline with relevant professional experience.
- Availability for regular travel to remote agricultural regions in coffee-producing areas in India, and potentially other countries in Asia.
