The Role:
The Junior Data Analyst, known as a QCO, will be a contributor who can help to lead our data quality process end-to-end in the short-term and can become a leader in operations, stakeholder management, data analysis, and insights generation in the medium-term. This person will help to grow our presence in the coffee industry in Kenya and East Africa and can generate and execute on new opportunities in the region.
This position will have the backing of a global team with deep experience in coffee sustainability and technology to help you reach your goals. What you'll do

  • The Junior Data Analyst will be responsible for:
  • Leading the day-to-day end-to-end data quality process in Kenya:
  • Generate daily quality control reports from survey data by running analyses
  • Follow up with field teams to receive returned daily and weekly quality control reports; communicate with teams to correct mistakes and improve quality of data
  • Monitor quality of data collected on a daily basis and report results to Data and Insights managers
  • Identify survey or logistical issues during survey collection and brainstorm ways to solve them
  • Support the set up and implementation of training sessions and create retraining documents
  • Conduct data analysis during SUCO and WACO
  • Leading the process of insights generation in Kenya and support other teams in East Africa
  • Conduct data analysis projects to improve Enveritas’ understanding of coffee industry dynamics in Kenya and East Africa
  • Conduct research related to coffee in Kenya
  • In tandem with the Kenya Operations Manager, research and engage with stakeholders in the region to increase the impact of Enveritas’ data collection activities
    Supporting Kenya Operations Manager in select activities:
  • Conduct training of enumerator teams
  • Take part in the coordination of the work of field survey teams alongside the Kenya Operation Manager; this includes travel about about 10% of the year
  • Supporting the Data & Insights Manager and East Africa Lead on special projects and ad hoc requests and other duties as assigned

We feel the successful candidate for the Junior Data Analyst role at Enveritas will have demonstrated experience and success in the following areas

  • Data-driven: Experience managing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research with strong data quality management knowledge is highly desirable
  • Detail-oriented: Puts high attention to details and helps teams to improve the quality of the data
  • Computer skills: Including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications, familiarity with quantitative data collection software/platforms; knowledge of Python or other programming languages beneficial, but not required
  • Knowledge of Python or other programming languages
  • Experience with coffee farming highly advantageous (raised in coffee growing families, participated in research conducted on coffee)
  • Experience with research and data collection processes is highly beneficial

Working at Enveritas

  • This position is part of the Africa/Asia team, reporting to the Kenya Operations Lead
  • This is a fully remote position (no office), open to candidates working anywhere within Kenya, with preference given to candidates near Nairobi to collaborate in person with colleagues when feasible.
  • Full-time availability and willingness to work during non-business hours, including weekends, as needed
  • Expect about 50% travel during the peak verification season (Oct-Dec, Apr-June).
