The Senior IT Network Administrator will oversee and maintain an organization's overall network infrastructure. The primary role will be to ensure the network's smooth operation, security, and reliability, and provide technical support and guidance to the IT team. This position will support our IT operations by designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting IT system related solutions for the organization. This position will be responsible for various IT systems including all WAN/LAN Network Operations, related server management, telecommunications, and security systems. The Senior IT Administrator will work closely with the IT team and IT leadership to scope and implement technology solutions that drive the EA mission through the design, implementation, and management of the IT network systems infrastructure, developer environments, hardware/software user-based deployments, training initiatives, and other systems/process improvement opportunities.

Skills and Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Network Administration or transferable skills, will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively in team settings with
    non-technical stakeholders, and will be eager to provide support and guidance to junior members of the IT team.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in computer network administration, Systems Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10 years of applied working experience in network/systems administration with the following or similar technologies and skillsets: Strong knowledge of network technologies, architectures, and solutions and protocols. (TCP/IP,routing, switching, Ethernet, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, VOIP, IDS/IPS, etc.)
  • Network security tools, technologies, and best practices Security frameworks and certifications (NIST, CIS, SOC2, ISO27001, etc.)
  • Network and systems monitoring and management (SEIM, syslog, snmp, NetFlow, Wireshark, etc.)
  • Network virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware ESXi vSwitch)
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and solutions (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, etc.)
  • Server/appliance administration, scripting, and automation (Linux, bash, python, ansible, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, strong customer service mindset.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in leading and managing complex IT
    infrastructure projects.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Additional skills will be assessed as a plus:
    • Windows, Linux, MacOS operating systems
    • Familiarity with statistical application R Studio, R Server and high-performance computing (bonus if the candidate has knowledge of compiling and linking with the Intel MKL library or low-level R efficiency)

Additional Information

This position requires on-site work at our offices in downtown Madison, WI. This position is not eligible for remote work. Candidates must be able to work in office full-time.
