Earth League International (ELI) is the only NGO in the world dedicated exclusively to investigating and addressing Environmental Crime Convergence—the intersection of environmental/wildlife crime with other serious transnational crimes such as money laundering, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and corruption. As pioneers in the use of professional intelligence applied to environmental crime and crime convergence, for over a decade, Earth League International (ELI) has been at the forefront of utilizing professional intelligence to investigate and combat environmental organized crime. Our long-term intelligence-gathering projects focus on some of the most critical environmental crimes, including deforestation and land grabbing in the Amazon, shark fin trafficking, illegal logging and mining, and wildlife crime. We also investigate associated serious crimes such as money laundering, human trafficking, and corruption. We regularly share intelligence and analytical reports on environmental crime and crime convergence with key stakeholders, including government agencies, policymakers, academic institutions, media, and the private sector. ELI’s team includes experienced multinational field investigators, undercover operators, researchers, crime analysts, geospatial intelligence specialists, and highly skilled former professionals from U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Our team members bring decades of global experience, including service in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and other government institutions. Our work has been featured on the front pages of The New Yorker and The Washington Post, as well as in the Netflix documentary The Ivory Game and the Disney+/National Geographic documentary Sea of Shadows.
