Ohio Women’s Alliance seeks a skilled, values-aligned communications and data manager to provide support to our Senior Director of Communications and the organization’s staff around programming aimed at making Reproductive Justice a reality in Ohio.

The ideal candidate will have managed communications at an advocacy organization and will excel at rapid-response and proactive communications planning, as well as campaigns, and will have experience with CRM and data management systems, such as EveryAction, to manage organizational data across programs. The Communications & Data Manager role will develop an understanding of Ohio’s Reproductive Justice landscape and will create and manage content that not only responds to current events but also engages a variety of audiences and supports OWA’s year-round programming. This candidate will be comfortable devising and executing communications plans, managing media relations, creating and managing editorial calendars, and writing and editing op-eds, blogs, press releases, statements, campaign materials, and social media content.

Communications Responsibilities:

  • Create content and write copy for a wide range of platforms and audiences, including OWA’s 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) social media assets, press statements, websites, email blasts, fundraising, and various printed and digital collateral.

    • Work with the Communications Director to create blog posts and support website content and updates

    • Work with the Communications Director to establish a regular cadence of relevant, easily accessible content through various communication channels

  • Support strategic communications and messaging development for OWA, working in conjunction with the Communications Director, Executive Director, and relevant program staff.

    • Develop graphics, webpages, and social media content related to events and programming, and support program staff with email communications related to events and programming

    • Support staff, interns, and volunteers with developing social media content that educates the public about OWA and Reproductive Justice

Data Responsibilities:

  • Manage data integrity in the EveryAction database, including data collection and maintenance.

  • Create and or update processes for data collection, including advising on data structure, developing data collection scripts and training materials, and implementing or adapting the data collection plan as needed.

  • Analyze gaps or inefficiencies in data collection and identify and operationalize potential solutions.

  • Manage, train, and mentor OWA staff, contractors, and members on data systems and processes as necessary.

  • 3-5 years of experience with social media management and content creation, including graphic design and video production

  • 3-5 years of experience with database management

  • Strong communication, facilitation, training, and strategic thinking skills

  • Experience managing and updating websites

  • Knowledge and understanding of social media and database tools, strategies, and best practices

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with OWA & OWA Action Fund, Executive Leaders, and staff

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, yet also able to work independently

  • Strong project management, time management, and planning skills, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects forward independently

  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality work products on a consistent, reliable basis in a fast-paced work environment with ambitious goals

  • Familiarity with data and metrics for analyzing political engagement, voting patterns, demographics, and the impact of civic engagement campaigns

  • Fluency with Google Suite, including Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Slides, and Drive

  • Experience with any of the following platforms is a plus, though not required (training will be provided): EveryAction; VAN; Squarespace (or other website management system); Sprout (or other scheduler); Slack; VAN

  • Ethical standards based on equity and justice
