Develop and maintain a multi-year database and reporting strategy, including creating a systematic methodology to gather, organize, and maintain data on WSCUC-accredited institutions from public, private, and institutional data sources.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing Power BI dashboards to present data insights clearly and effectively.
  • Downloading, analyzing, and interpreting data from the College Scorecard, IPEDS, the Federal Student Aid Data Center and other sources as needed.
  • Managing data collection while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Restructuring data files, merging data files from multiple sources, and data cleaning.
  • Utilizing Excel for data manipulation, reporting, and data management.
  • Gathering and providing comparable benchmarks (national, state, and institutional peers) for metrics of interest.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Fulfilling data requests from senior staff.
  • Interpreting findings and effectively communicating and displaying results through preparation of reports, narratives, and graphics for research and reporting.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation of data sources and methodological decisions, including clear explanation of data limitations.
  • Staying updated on emerging data analytics techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Creating surveys to collect information as needed.
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly, while maintaining track of projects.
  • Ability to work in a remote and/or hybrid environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing in a professional manner with multiple audiences, including internal colleagues, campus officials at many levels, students, policy makers, and researchers.

Skillset

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, quantitative social science or related field and at least four years professional experience in higher education data collection and research.
  • Experience creating Power BI dashboards and visualizations.
  • Experience downloading, analyzing, and managing data from the College Scorecard, IPEDS, and Federal Student Aid Data Center.
  • Proficiency in Excel: pivot tables, formulas, v-lookups, Power Query and other advanced skills.
  • Experience working with data warehouses and large data sets.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of topics in higher education.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and problem solve for WSCUC member institution representatives needing assistance with data issues.
