CXL is in search of a Bolivia-based Program Associate consultant to join our South America team starting July 2026 with possible extension through 2029. This is a key role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the SAFF. The Program Associate supports project management of the SAFF within the three ecoregions across Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. The incumbent will manage a complex and fast paced multi-partner portfolio, support SAFF operational execution by tracking deadlines and identifying roadblocks, and support stakeholder engagement. The program associate will support the SAFF Team with partner coordination and operational implementation helping to ensure SAFF priorities across a diverse partner portfolio of local and regional partners.

The South America Fire Fund (SAFF) seeks to tackle fire, the leading cause of tropical primary forest loss, in three globally significant ecoregions including Amazon, Chiquitania, and Pantanal. The Fund will unite partners to build and test integrated prevention and response systems, learn quickly, and scale what works. This Fund focuses on the underlying conditions that drive destructive fire and combines community-led stewardship, cutting-edge innovation and technology, and data-driven decision systems.
The Role:
CXL is in search of a Bolivia-based Program Associate consultant to join our South America team starting July 2026 with possible extension through 2029. This is a key role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the SAFF. The Program Associate supports project management of the SAFF within the three ecoregions across Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. The incumbent will manage a complex and fast paced multi-partner portfolio, support SAFF operational execution by tracking deadlines and identifying roadblocks, and support stakeholder engagement. The program associate will support the SAFF Team with partner coordination and operational implementation helping to ensure SAFF priorities across a diverse partner portfolio of local and regional partners.
Scope of Work:
Working directly under the guidance and supervision of the Program Director based in Washington, DC and closely with the Regional Lead based in Brazil, the Program Associate will coordinate with an array of program and technical team members based in North and South America that includes strategic & technical leadership, program & technical experts in Behavior Change, Cross-Border Coordination, Financial Innovation, Fire Technology and Innovation.
Duties:
- Helps track project and program progress and provides input to program planning and review.
- Participates in the development of innovative solutions for meeting South America Fire Fund goals; helps to identify opportunities and incentives for achieving those goals.
- Assists with the development and reviews of short- and long-term work plans, program materials, and reports.
- Supports the preparation of scopes of work, budgets, and administrative documentation for contracts, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
- Assists in drafting funding proposals and donor progress reports
- Represents CXL and the South America Fire Fund at external meetings and workshops.
- Assists in communicating programs and projects to diverse audiences through public presentations, public outreach, written materials, and other outreach channels.
- Supports and produces reports, materials, data and tools for projects, governments, private sector partners, general audiences, and CXL stakeholders.
- Interfaces and supports communication with partner organizations, including supporting technical leads and other SAFF team members by participating in, summarizing, and scheduling calls.
- Supports partners with project development and tracking.
- Provides administrative and logistical support for projects, and activities including events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree with 2 to 4 years of experience in conservation, protected areas management, fire management or disaster risk reduction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate complex issues both verbally and in written form in English and Spanish
- Ability to effectively prioritize and produce high-quality work under tight time constraints.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment with remote colleagues.
- Strong research and analytical skills, particularly online research methods.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software and systems. Experience with AI tools preferred.

Salary
$40,000 - $50,000 per year
