About the Role

Location: Remote, United States

Role Type: Part-Time (less than 10 hours per week)

Duration: September 8, 2025 - November 19, 2025 (Training start and the Fall Academic Term)

Reports To: Program Manager

Compensation: $75-$100 per hour

Lead instructors are responsible for providing in-class instruction and are the “face” of CodePath’s classes taught to university students across the nation. Lead instructors plan for engaging lessons using CodePath curriculum and ensure the course is meeting program KPIs while integrating student feedback throughout the program. Instructors also might work with co-instructors and teaching assistants to coordinate in class activities and support.

To be successful in this role, you should be a dynamic, inspiring technical expert with a desire to create inclusive educational spaces and a passion for empowering students, particularly those who identify with underrepresented groups in tech. You should have experience with iOS development along with 3+ years of full-time experience, and a demonstrated ability to create lively learning spaces on Zoom, for audiences up to 500 students.

You will need to be free during the Fall Academic Term which runs between September 8th through November 19th, 2025. The full date range also includes time needed for pre-course instructor training: September 8th & 10th, 4:00pm-7:00pm PT (7:00pm-10:00pm ET). Instructors must be free during one of these course times:

  • Wednesdays, 3:00pm-5:00pm PT (6:00pm-8:00pm ET)

  • Wednesdays, 5:00pm-7:00pm PT (8:00pm-10:00pm ET)

Key Activities

  • Lead online class sessions of approximately 100-500 college students

  • Review course material and plan for lessons to be highly engaging and industry relevant, with CodePath provided curriculum

  • Work with the Program Manager to oversee the course and work with other co-instructors as needed

  • Participate in syncs with instructors and teaching assistants leading up to the start of the course, as an onboarding and to make sure instructors feel well prepared to run effective sessions during the program

  • Use course feedback to implement course improvements and propose curriculum changes that ensure KPIs are met

  • As requested, participate in check-ins with instructors during the course, optionally shadowing some of the other instructor’s sessions, to provide instructors feedback

Qualifications

  • Availability during listed course hours (above)

  • 3+ years of full-time working experience in a software development/engineering role

  • Strong understanding of iOS technologies and development

  • Strong familiarity with Swift

  • Exceedingly skilled in audience engagement, tight delivery, and Zoom classroom administration

  • Experience working through shifting priorities and learning, while maintaining organization and control

  • A passion for training the next generation of developers and some experience teaching in an educational, volunteer or work setting, for online learning environments

  • Exceptional professional habits (timely email, timecards, lesson plan submission, Slack responsiveness) in a fast-paced, part-time setting

  • (Preferred) 1+ years of instructional experience with a demonstrated track record of educational excellence

* This is a seasonal, part-time (up to 10 hour/week) position. Our hourly band is $75-$100 an hour. Candidate hourly rate is dependent on experience and new staff rarely start at the top of the range.
