Job Title: Digital Campaign Specialist

Location: Remote, Northeast, United States with a strong preference for Washington, DC or NYC metropolitan areas

About the Organization: As a research and action organization, Center for Policing Equity (CPE) produces analyses identifying and reducing the causes of racial disparities in public safety. Using data-driven approaches to social justice, we use science to create levers for social, cultural, and policy change.

We are research scientists, race and equity experts, data virtuosos, and community trainers. We use data to build a more fair and just system. We partner with law enforcement and communities. Our aim is to bridge the divide of communication, generational mistrust, and suffering. But most of all, we are the path that science can forge toward public safety, community trust, and racial equity.

Position Overview:

CPE is looking for a Digital Campaigns Specialist with a passion for the advancement of racial equity and social justice. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, the Digital Campaigns Specialist will drive the development and design of digital assets for short-term and long-term campaigns, including email campaigns, social media, publications, and our website to effectively carry our message. The Digital Campaigns Specialist must be a highly organized, forward-thinker with innovative ideas to advance our issues. This role will collaborate with the communications team and provide strategic advice to teams across the organization while enhancing our digital strategy and thinking expansively about our work.

This position is within a bargaining unit represented by a staff union, CPE United (OPEIU), and the terms and conditions of employment associated with the position may change in the future, pending the negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft digital campaign strategies to ensure our key stakeholders are engaged with and making use of our research, data tools and expertise to advance our mission and vision for public safety
  • Collaborate with members of the communications team and key members of other teams org-wide to source and recommend content.
  • Oversee the drafting and review of social media and email content advancing the mission and strategic goals of the organization.
  • Cultivate relationships with peer organizations for external collaboration opportunities in all digital campaigns on social media and the website.
  • Identify opportunities for digital amplification of CPE products and new material.
  • Collaborate with CPE leadership and staff, keeping them updated on trends within media narratives.
  • Use and update media, marketing, and communications management platforms and tracking tools (both internal and external) for KPI reporting needs
  • Oversee completion of weekly, quarterly, and biannual news clips and other KPI reporting tasks, including website updates and KPI report development.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to generate fresh, accurate, and up-to-date content, following industry best practices for digital copywriting and SEO.
  • Establish and implement a strategy to provide other digital design-specific and general communications support to improve the organization’s internal and external communications.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., journalism, communications, marketing, public affairs, graphic design)
  • Five (5)+ years of progressive experience in communications, social media management, PR, and/or marketing at a fast-paced organization or agency
  • Experience managing others to accomplish projects at various sizes and levels of complexity
  • Graphic design capacity and experience is critical
  • Fluent in managing and utilizing media, marketing, and communications monitoring tools such as Cision, Meltwater, Google Analytics, HubSpot, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Associated Press (AP) style for writing, editing, and inclusive storytelling
  • Experience with communications, PR, and/or marketing directly related to racial, social, and/or criminal justice issues
  • Superb written, digital, and verbal communication skills; ability to bring disparate audiences together around inspiring stories and compelling messages
  • Highly collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally
  • Highly organized and systematic, with superb attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete several tasks concurrently with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to seamlessly transition between high-level strategic thinking and tactical execution
  • Ability to work independently and elicit trust in judgment (can make trusted recommendations), in collaboration with the Vice President of Communications, Senior Strategic and other organization leaders

Compensation:

Range: $71,300 - $97,100 USD. The base salary for this position will vary based on place of residence and job-related criteria, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience, among other factors.
