We are looking for a remote Scrum Master (SM) who will help create an environment where product & engineering teams as one team can deliver high quality software products on-time. The SM understands the interdependencies across teams, projects and resources, ensures cross-team coordination and collaboration through the facilitation of meetings and discussions, proactively surfaces and removes blockers, aggregates and disseminates project statuses, and performs any other ancillary tasks for effective delivery. The SM may also be involved in onboarding application and tool usage, taking lead on release management, reviewing processes, and preparing various documentation and performing operational tasks for optimizing project delivery.
The SM must have sufficient understanding of technology and delivery processes to help enable product and engineering teams to overcome roadblocks. The SM must also understand business strategy and objectives, and be able to ensure business values prioritize development work, and results are aligned with COS’ objectives. The SM is expected to exercise considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning and delivering projects and initiatives and is considered the subject matter expert on Scrum.

Description of responsibilities:

  • Facilitate collaboration across various functional teams to drive outcomes through effective planning & delivery
  • Champion best practices, guide teams and address gaps to effectively utilize the Agile/Scrum methodology across the teams
  • Assess Agile/Scrum maturity of the Product & Engineering teams, coach and mature teams at a sustainable pace
  • Remove impediments through ensuring the right personnel are involved with cross team collaborations; proactively communicate gaps and threats to projects and program deliverables
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution or judgment, with an emphasis on problem solving
  • Facilitate discussions, decisions, and all Agile ceremonies, and work with the team to drive focus and ensure teams stay on track
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improve transparency on status and report metrics on KPIs and continuous improvements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience coaching, setting up and running Agile/Scrum with Engineering teams using Jira
  • Expert level understanding of agile techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and implement Agile/Scrum practices to advance organizational goals
  • Demonstrated capacity and willingness to lead projects or initiatives outside individual area(s) of expertise
  • Excellent oral and written communication; tracking and reporting to technical and non-technical audience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough understanding of SDLC and experience in release management is a plus
  • Experience transforming Product/Engineering teams to Agile/Scrum is a plus

Required experience and/or degree:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years experience as a Scrum Master in a Software Development team
  • (CSM) Certified Scrum Master
This is a fully remote position. Occasional travel is possible for this position, including up to twice per year for organizational meetings, with the potential for other in person events.
COS supports flexibility in work scheduling. Individuals who would like to work outside a 9am - 5pm Eastern Time (ET) schedule must work with their managers to establish core hours of availability. Modifications for different time zones will be considered for team collaboration.
