Candid currently has an opportunity for an Accountant. As a member of the Operations Division Finance team, the Accountant will provide day-to-day management of Accounts Payable, employee expense reports, and General Ledger account reconciliations, all while cultivating positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Position: Revenue Accountant

Reporting to: Senior Accounting Manager & Assistant Controller

Supervises: N/A

Schedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday

Compensation: $45,000 - $75,000 (this range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).

Location: Remote. In-person attendance is required twice per year during our annual, weeklong all-staff summits. Additional in-person meeting participation is required at least once per quarter for senior leaders and at least once per month for the executive team. Staff not located in the NYC area are expected to travel for these meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy and route to department managers for approval
  • Process new vendors for onboarding into accounts payable system and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Process monthly amortizations and review invoices for quarterly and year end accruals
  • Record bank debits and payments
  • Reconcile A/P and cash accounts in ERP system
  • Prepare journal entries for reclass, adjustments and record manual A/P entries
  • Process 1099s at year end
  • Respond to various Accounts Payable inquiries from within the organization, including JIRA tickets
  • Process staff expense reimbursements in expense reporting system, ensuring all expenses adhere to Candid’s Travel & Expense Policy
  • Reconcile corporate card statements to submitted expense reports
  • Reconcile “Other Refunds/Reimbursements” account and notify employees of amount due
  • Maintaining Candid’s accounts payable and employee reimbursement systems (Tipalti and Nexonia). This includes but is not limited to ensuring the system is up to date with correct mapping of GL accounts, project codes, vendors and department/divisions
  • Setting up employee training to introduce new system upgrades and replacements, and provide detailed user guide
  • Work with staff and managers to resolve accounts payable and expense report issues
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports to provide details of accounts payable and other expenses
  • Under direction of Sr. Accounting Manager, implement process improvements and document procedures
  • Partner with Sr. Accountant to prepare audit schedules, compile supporting documentation, and ensure timely response to auditor requests
  • Act as backup for Sr. Accountant
  • Maintain and update related schedules and reports assigned by Sr. Accountant
  • Special projects as assigned by Sr. Accounting Manager and Sr. Accountant

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a major in Finance or Accounting
  • 3-5 years’ Accounts Payable and Accounting experience, with knowledge of 1099 reporting
  • 3 years’ experience working effectively in a fully remote environment
  • Experience with following financial systems: ERP (NetSuite or similar), Accounts Payable (Tipalti or similar), Expense Reporting (Nexonia or similar)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards & practices, and data reconciliation procedures
  • Experience using Zoom and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Ability to work autonomously, deliver results without in-person supervision, and tackle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Highly detail oriented and well organized with strong attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter, trustworthy, conscientious and discreet
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with a can-do approach and ownership
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
