Senior Accounting Coordinator

The Calyx Institute is seeking applications for a detailed-oriented, organized and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Accounting Coordinator. The Senior Accounting Coordinator role will be primarily responsible for supporting the finance department, reporting to the Finance Director, while working in coordination across departments – in particular our membership, operations and grants teams. This position will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, a proficiency in accounting software and appreciation of free and open source software (FOSS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Finance Director on assigned tasks
- Assist with audit documentation and preparation
- Coordinate expense documentation and reimbursement with Calyx staff
- Coordinate inventory management and tracking with membership team
- Arrange travel accommodation for staff, in coordination with operations team
- Work with grant recipients regarding financial documentation
- Occasional conference participation as part of the Calyx team
- Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- 2-4 years professional experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles
- Proficiency using double-entry accounting software
- Proficiency using office suite software
- Proficiency using spreadsheets
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
- Familiarity or experience with FOSS and the Internet freedom and digital rights ecosystem
- Ability to communicate in spoken and written English

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, remote position, requiring work authorization in the U.S. Calyx operates in the following states: Washington, Virginia, New York and Florida. Preference will be given to candidates residing in the states where Calyx operates, and occasional travel will be required. The salary range is $75,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Calyx offers health, vision, and dental insurance, HRA and Transportation FSA options, unlimited vacation, and 401k retirement plan options with up to 10% employer matching contribution. Additionally, Calyx operates on a four-day work week. This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit (CWA Local 1101), and specific employment terms and conditions are subject to collective bargaining.
