About the Position:

As the Senior Development and Marketing Director at Callisto, you will join our Executive team, providing key support during a time of exciting growth and scalability. You will support the day-to-day activities of the organization across a broad range of functions, including development, marketing, outreach, and programming, helping to maximize online and individual giving.

This position reports directly to the CEO.

Primary Responsibilities

General

  • Create and execute a new integrated strategic marketing and fundraising plan across the organization to increase and maintain donors and users of Callisto
  • Lead efforts to articulate the fundamental vision of Callisto and communicate it to Callisto’s stakeholders and the larger community.
  • Identify and target priority audiences (donors, users, etc) and ensure the alignment of marketing efforts designed for and directed towards key stakeholders.
  • Develop, manage, and track metrics to measure effectiveness of all publicity, advertising, social media, campaign, and media relations strategies/ efforts across the organization.
  • Advance, manage, and support all CEO external speaking opportunities, presentations, and other events. Assist in preparing talking points, presentations, and other materials in concert with relevant departments. Seek out strategic opportunities for targeted audiences.
  • Build and cultivate relationships externally with corporate sponsors and coordinate internally with other departments to promote Callisto its goals and programs.
  • Create continuity between different departments
  • Participate in executive meetings to discuss strategic initiatives, and ensure cohesion between departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Development

  • Create and execute a strategic and comprehensive fundraising plan for the organization
  • Seek, create, and cultivate relationships with prospective individual, institutional and corporate donors
  • Deepen annual individual giving campaign(s)
  • Manage annual crowdfunding campaign on Classy or another platform
  • Create and maintain a corporate giving program
  • Prospect and write grant proposals as necessary

Brand Management, Marketing, and Storytelling

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plan and strategy on an annual basis, including key goals, measurable objectives and application of data and analysis.
  • Deepen and expand the organization’s brand and, in collaboration with other departments, build meaningful relationships between Callisto and its diverse audiences, partners, supporters, and future donors.
  • Create and implement overall branding strategy for the organization, both internally and externally, including messaging, values proposition, promotion, organizational identity, advertising materials, strategic partnerships, special events, etc.
  • Develop an internal and external communication plan (including the use of Callisto’s name, visuals, logo, and messaging) with the key stakeholders, departments, and the CEO.
  • Create and maintain a marketing campaign including messaging, visual and editorial style guides and enforce them throughout the organization, the board, and volunteers. Ensure visual and editorial integrity of Callisto brand in all public-facing communication.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Center and embed Callisto’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) values and goals into every aspect of the role.
  • Contribute to an inclusive workplace culture;
  • Propel a culture of inclusion while collaborating cross departmentally within Callisto.
  • Engage in regular conversations about anti-racism and equity through all-staff meetings, lunch-and-learns, and trainings.
  • Bring an anti-oppressive lens into communications and marketing work, especially policies, procedures, and storytelling.
  • Bring a trauma-informed, survivor-centers lens into the communication and marketing efforts
  • Advocate for and lead marketing strategies that seek to amplify voices from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disabled communities.

Public Relations

  • Spearhead publicity initiatives:
  • Field any incoming press inquiries
  • Create plan to pitch feature stories to relevant news outlets
  • Work with PR team as necessary
Essential Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in an marketing role with a nonprofit that focuses on online giving
  • Experience using donor tracking software
  • Ability to self manage time and effectively communicate within a fully remote team
  • A track record of excellence in managing multiple projects on different deadlines
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven success at individual giving
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • The ability to work a varied schedule based on the needs of the team
  • Strong familiarity with Google’s productivity suite - calendar, docs, sheets, email, etc
  • Understanding of, and alignment with, Callisto's mission

Salary range: $95,000 - $125,000
