WE'RE HIRING

COLLEGE COACH

"A college degree is vital to a student’s chances of succeeding in their career and life -- I am excited to join Beyond 12’s important efforts to support students on that journey.”

- Shonda Rhimes, creator of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal," Beyond 12 Board Member

The current landscape:

Beyond 12 is a national technology-based nonprofit that was launched in 2010 to dramatically increase the number of students from under-resourced communities who graduate from college and who translate their degrees into meaningful employment and choice-filled lives. In partnership with high schools and colleges, our college success platform and our virtual coaches provide students with the academic, social, and emotional support they need to succeed in higher education and beyond. We envision a world in which a student's zip code, and parent’s level of education will no longer predict their college graduation outcomes or their future success.

THE POSITION

ABOUT YOU

PROGRAM

TEAM LEADS

Are you a college graduate who is passionate about lifting other students as you climb your own ladder of success? You could inspire the next generation by becoming a college coach.

You will work with up to 450 college students virtually — by phone, text messaging, email, and social media — to help them navigate the beginning of their college career and, ultimately, achieve their dream of earning a degree. In your monthly calls with your students, you will use your academic and personal experiences, as well as Beyond 12's coaching curriculum, to help your students set goals, create education plans, navigate financial aid, build relationships, and manage their time effectively so they can be successful in and out of the classroom. For every student, you will track and document data about your students' progress to serve them most effectively. As a college coach, you will help our organization better understand college persistence and graduation trends.

You are passionate and excited about having an impact on the lives of college students from under-resourced backgrounds. You lead with empathy and respect and seek to understand the obstacles others face. You are comfortable with technology and value the role data plays in providing insights that help address our most intractable social challenges. You are resilient, even in the face of obstacles and setbacks.
