Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP)
Overview
The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) is the largest membership organization of asylum seekers in the United States, with over 650,000 members from 175 countries. By joining ASAP, members gain access to critical resources and become part of a collective effort to build a more welcoming United States.
The Role
ASAP is currently accepting applications for legal interns to join our remote team in Summer of 2025. Summer internships are full-time (40 hrs/week) lasting between 8 and 10 weeks.
Responsibilities
Interns will work under attorney supervision to support ASAP’s members — over 650,000 asylum seekers from over 175 countries and all 50 states. Internship responsibilities could include: doing legal research and writing in support of litigation matters, analyzing legislation and policy proposals related to immigration and asylum seekers’ rights, researching emerging issues and writing blog posts for ASAP members about key policy updates, and attending internal and coalition meetings remotely.
Qualifications
Legal interns must be currently enrolled in law school and pursuing a U.S. law degree. Please note that Spanish proficiency is highly valued but not a requirement for an internship position with ASAP. ASAP will ensure that all interns receive school credit or compensation for their internships. ASAP has a remote workplace, and location is flexible.
Location
Remote in any of the 50 U.S. states and D.C., excluding U.S. territories.
Note: ASAP is a 100% remote organization with no physical office locations. We are currently equipped to employ staff remotely throughout the 50 U.S. states and D.C. Unfortunately, we are not equipped to employ staff from U.S. territories or outside the United States.
