Position Overview

Arnold Ventures’ advocacy, communications, and external affairs team (ACE) aims to effectively position the organization as a trusted champion for evidence-based, nonpartisan policy solutions to America’s toughest challenges. This includes both communications through original content creation and distribution of our policy priorities, and direct engagement and relationship building with targeted policy stakeholders.

The Arnold Ventures Criminal Justice portfolio aims to improve public safety and make the U.S. criminal justice system fairer and more effective. They work with experts from inside and outside of government and across disciplines to support rigorous, policy-relevant research on what works; develop policies based on research and evidence; and advance meaningful policy change at the federal, state, and local levels.

We are seeking an Analyst to provide analytical and operational support that advances the objectives of Arnold Ventures’ Criminal Justice portfolio. This individual will work closely with team members on substantive advocacy, communications, and external affairs projects and gain experience in supporting the development and management of high-impact philanthropic projects. The Analyst will be based in our Washington, D.C. office and report to the Vice President of Advocacy, Criminal Justice.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and operational support for the team’s funding initiatives, including grants management, tracking team budgets, and developing processes to improve efficiency
  • Track, analyze, and summarize legislative developments, policy findings, and research to inform internal reporting and strategic decision-making
  • Coordinate and contribute to meetings, site visits, conferences, and convenings with government officials, researchers, organization representatives, program providers, and other key stakeholders to advance the team’s objectives
  • Collaborate with teams within and across departments to ensure alignment on projects, fostering intra- and inter-departmental connectivity and communication
  • Actively participate in team meetings by suggesting ideas, brainstorming solutions, and identifying areas for improvement to enhance team outcomes and performance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12 years of experience in a related field, including part-time work or internships, and experience managing complex projects, research, or policy reform
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills, including the ability to absorb, analyze, and convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner verbally and in writing
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated skill in analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and other key stakeholders
  • Strong command of modern technology (MS Office, Google Workspace, Calendly, Zoom, etc.)

The salary range for this position will be $80000-$90,000.
