Job Title: Volunteer UX/UI Designer Organization: accesSOS Location: Remote Volunteering Commitment: 5-10 hrs a week
accesSOS is a tech nonprofit on a mission to make emergency help accessible to all, particularly to deaf, hard-of-hearing, and non-English speaking communities. We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative UX/UI Designer to join our team and help refine our products. As a Volunteer UX/UI Designer with accesSOS, you’ll work closely with a small team of software developers and our Product Manager to design and iterate upon the design and improve the user experience of our current mobile app and web products.
You’ll be at the forefront of innovation in the tech nonprofit world, making access to emergency services available to everyone nationwide.

As a Volunteer UX/UI Designer you will work together with our Product Manager and Engineering Development Team to:
Design storyboards, process flows, high level flows, logic trees, to detailed wireframes, to high fidelity mockups, to clickable prototypes to express vision
Develop and build user interface elements, UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how accesSOS apps/sites/tools function and look like
Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
Provide guidance to team members on various design projects such as social media posts, advertising, power points, newsletters, presentations, and grant applications
Be responsible for and effectively advocate for consistency in design and brand alignment on style standards such as fonts, colors, images, and messaging
Contribute to improving design team tools and processes
Advocate for user-centered design in all products
Requirements:
Strong experience with Figma and other design tools
Strong complex problem solving capabilities
Excellent attention to detail and quality
Availability to commit 5-10 hours per week
Ability to prioritize tasks and goals independently
Ability to thrive in a start-up, semi-structured environment
Ability to communicate ideas and designs to end user and product team members
Bonus:
Experience in user interviews, Design thinking principles
User Research & Product Testing experience/interest
Great documentation skills
